Iran, Russia sign landmark customs agreement

Iran and Russia signed an agreement for establishing a ‘green customs corridor’, the most important customs

deal between the two countries.

The agreement was signed as Deputy Head of the Federal Customs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Malinin met with Head of Iran’s Customs Organization Masoud Karbasian here in Tehran.

One of the main areas of the agreement includes Iran’s agricultural exports to Russia.

Russia would put releasing perishable agricultural products as a priority and Iran has vowed to provide Russia with customs value and information of these products.

The two sides also agreed to translate customs value of exported and imported goods into Russian and put them on Iran’s Customs website to provide the importers and exporters with Iran’s customs values.

The agreement also includes transit development between Iran and Russia in road, maritime and railroad areas.

They also agreed to develop railroad through Azerbaijan and expand maritime transit specifically in Astrakhan, Makhachkala and Port Olya in Russia and also Astara, Anzali, Amirabad and Noshahr ports in Iran , ISNA reported.
