It is well-known for everybody that in the epoch of computers, it is very difficult to make youth interested in reading.

However, nowadays, Georgian teenagers are really very strongly into reading. The bright example of this is the long queues at the bookstores. Due to the project Liberteens, which was set by Palitra L, teenagers are able to chose any book at their age. The slogan of the project is proper: “the choice of your generation”.

The books existing in the project are named as the world’s bestseller books published and translated into several foreign languages.

We are presenting here those top 5 the most popular teens’ books.

1. James Dashner – “The Maze Runners”

Thomas wakes up in a metal box that brings him to a weird glade. He has no memory of who he is or how he got there. He gradually discovers that the Glade is run by two boys: Alby, the leader, and Newt, the second-in-charge, who both maintain order by enforcing strict rules.

2. Marcus Zusak – “The Book Thief”

The Book Thief centers around the life of Liesel Meminger, a nine-year-old girl living in Germany during World War II. Liesel’s experiences are narrated by Death, who describes both the beauty and destruction of life in this era.

3. Holly Smale – “Geek Girl”

Geek Girl is the debut novel of Holly Smale. It tells the story of Harriet Manners, a socially awkward 15 year old English girl with a limited circle of friends and whom is the target of the school bully. Plucked from obscurity to be the face of a high profile fashion advertising campaign, Manners’ change of circumstance results in various conflicts which she must resolve and which in turn lead to revelations about both herself and the world in general.

4. Zoe Sugg – “Girl Online”

The novel surrounds Penny Porter, a fifteen year old living with her parents in Brighton. Penny starts blogging about her problems, such as school drama, friends, family, and boys. Her family travels to New York where her mother is organising a wedding. Attending the wedding, Penny meets a musician, Noah, with whom she falls in love, resulting in her blog going viral.

5. Michelle Falkoff – “Playlist for dead”

There was a party. There was a fight. The next morning, Sam’s best friend, Hayden, was dead. And all he left Sam was a playlist of songs and a suicide note: For Sam—listen and you’ll understand. To figure out what happened, Sam has to rely on the playlist and his own memory. But the more he listens, the more he realizes that his memory isn’t as reliable as he thought. And it might only be by taking out his earbuds and opening his eyes to the people around him that he’ll finally be able to piece together his best friend’s story. And maybe have a chance to change his own.
