Tbilisi City Hall, in cooperation with vocational schools, began the training program Learn and Work to serve the unemployed population.
Colleges will offer 15 professions to potential trainees in tourism, the service industry and construction. Registration will be open until May 4. Vocational education courses will be free of charge and expenses will be covered by the City Hall budget. The cost of the project will be 175,000 GEL.
“The aim of the program is to help job seeking populations get employed through training programs of in-demand professions. Employment represents the biggest problem. We know that there is a demand for specific directions, but in many cases there are no qualified citizens,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
“That’s why we started the program “Learn and Work,” in which citizens from the age of 18 will be able to participate,” Kaladze said. According to him, during the selection process priority will be given to socially unprotected persons and other vulnerable groups. The statement was made during today’s government meeting.
