New cableway was added to the resort Tetnuldi – the first phase of construction of “Tetnuldi” by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure was terminated successfully. The cable car includes six chairs and was built by the French company “Poma“. Prime Minister visited the cableway that will serve to customers free of charge.
Prime Minister congratulated potential visitors of Tetnuldi on successful termination of project. Pursuant to him, perfect potential of Georgia in terms of developing mountainous resorts shall be utilized maximally rationally.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili considers tourism to be one of the top priorities for the Government and thinks that development of the said industry will bring additional investments and new workplaces to the Georgian community.
“Currently in Tetnuldi one ski track is operating. We intend to add three cableways by the end of this year. This will be one of the best resorts not only in Georgia, but throughout whole Eastern Europe. We also plan to build additional cableway that will connect with Tetnuldi base from village Mulakhi. Furthermore, route from Svaneti to Kutaisi will also be built and will go through Tsageri and Lentekhi. Thus, distance between Kutaisi Airport and Tetnuldi will be covered within two hours. We also plan to construct several hotels, to give impetus to the development of the resort. I am convinced in success of this project,” – Prime Minister noted.
Pursuant to the head of Government, specific plan is being elaborated and its implementation will start this summer.
The cost of the ski resort project is 1000 million GEL and is financed by Georgian Government with support of Government of France.
Theski track of tetnuldi will be the longest throughout the South Caucasus (9.5 KMs) and will have the largest vertical drop (1.7 KMs).
“The company for developing mountain resorts” assigned a Mestia-Tetnuldi, Tetnuldi-Mestia bus, which will serve to customers free of charge. this initiative aims at popularization of the resort.
It is important that local population will be employed at Tetnuldi resort. The construction works started in 2016 and its first phase was terminated in january 2016.
