According to the director of Municipal Development Fund, the rehabilitation of Georgian Technical University Academic Canter and Research Laboratory for Resting Bridges and Tunnels will be finished in January 2019.
„Unique laboratory will be arranged with a full equipment for testing bridges and tunnels. Space arrangement will be completed in the near future and equipment will be installed in 2019. On basis of GTU, an international-level laboratory will be arranged and this is of crucial importance for implementing infrastructural projects’, Giorgi Shengelia said.
Today, similar research works are not carried out in Georgia, the executive director of Municipal Development Fund noted.
“This is very important, even more so in the context of our challenges, for example, for Rikoti Pass works, where tunnel and bridges are being constructed”, Dzneladze said.
The GTU laboratory is being rehabilitated with the financial support of Asian Development Bank.
