Five years ago, there were few if any modern health and fitness centres in Georgia. Today they seem to be sprouting-up all over the place.
One of the newer brands on the market in Georgia is the Minnesota, USA-based Snap Fitness franchise. Their newest branch is in the Vake district, and the moment you walk through the door you get the sense that you’ve walked into a professional fitness centre. The new, second floor location in Vake is spacious and comfortable. The floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook leafy Chavchavadze Avenue flush the space with natural light, and every aspect of the new fitness centre is new, including the workout equipment.
“We offer our members only top-of-the-line equipment at our gym,” explains Tornike Qobulashvili, the manager and head trainer at the new Vake branch.
Indeed, Snap Fitness has everything you need for your workout – high-tech treadmills, elliptical bikes, weight-lifting machines, free-weights, punching bag (full-sized), dumbbells – it’s all there. In addition, the branch offers a boxing area if you want to spar with a partner, as well as spinning, aerobic, Zumba, CrossFit and Pilate’s classes that are held throughout the week.
If you are like me, running in place on a treadmill can be a boring, torturous ordeal. However, at Snap’s Vake branch, the treadmill machines have built-in Wi-Fi, so, after you’ve set your distance, speed and incline, you can scroll through the large touch-screen console and watch the kilometers pass in comfort as you surf the YouTube channel, check your Facebook account, watch TV programs, listen to the radio, or whatever you want to help you pass the time.
The Vake branch comes with clean, secure lockers, a changing area, as well as showers. There is also a ‘health bar’ that offers protein shakes, Vitamin Water (US), coffee and other health and fitness-related items. For those who are serious about getting themselves into shape, Snap Fitness also has personal trainers on staff to help you get the most out of your workout. For ₾250, you can get 10 sessions working with a personal trainer (which is an excellent price considering what you might have to pay hiring a personal trainer in somewhere like the United States).
“We have a whole team of trainers at Snap Fitness – other gyms might have 2-3, but we have at least 8 here at our branch,” notes Qobulashvili.
Whatever approach you choose in your workout routine, the staff at Snap Fitness is there to help.
“We’re really motivated to make sure that all of our members are happy with their experience here at our fitness centre,” explains receptionist Elene Meladze with a smile.
According to Meladze, Snap Fitness offers only one kind of membership, which costs ₾119/per month, and entitles members to unlimited visits, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anyone looking for a professional place to do their exercise routine should consider getting a membership at Snap Fitness. Not only is the environment cool and comfortable, but the staff is friendly, and the equipment is really top-of-the-line. For more information about Snap Fitness, you can visit the Vake branch in person at 29 Chavchavadze Avenue, or contact them at +995 0322 25 09 09.
