Wizz Air Turns Leader in Georgia in terms of Passenger Turnover

For the first time in the history of Georgian aviation market, Wizz Air has become the market leader. According to the 2018 indicators, this airline handled 597 179 passengers. This is the highest figure on the Georgian air market and this figure has made Wizz Air an owner of 12% market ratio.

In 2017 the airline held only 8% market ratio and ranked third.

Georgian Airways and Turkish Airlines rank second with 11% market ratios, according to the 2018 report published by LEPL Civil Aviation Agency. 

In 2018 Turkish Airlines served 559 749 passengers, Georgian Airways – 550 831 passengers. 

In 20917 Turkish Airlines held 12% market ratio and Georgian Airways – 10%. 

Russian airline Ural Airlines ranks third with 6% market ratio and 294 000 passengers handled. In 2017 the company held 4% market ratio. 

Fly Dubai and Ukraine International Airlines (FlyUIA) rank fourth with 5%-5% market ratios. 

Russian airlines Aeroflot, S7 and Pobeda Airlines control 4% market ratios in Georgia. 

EL AL Israel Airlines and Pegasus Airlines hold 3% market ratios. 

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), Belavia, Air Arabia, Air Astana, Zagros Airlines, YANAIR, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Qeshm Airlines and Qatar Airways hold 2% market ratios.

It is noteworthy that in 2018 Georgian airports served 4 950 334 passengers
