According to the September 12 report, companies have processed about 16.3 thousand tons of grapes in the Kakheti Region, including 6.3 thousand tons of Rkatsiteli, 7.9 thousand tons of Saperavi, 827 tons of Kakhetian Green and so on.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Kakhetian farmers have sold 13.4 million GEL grapes to winemaking companies.
At this stage, the Sighnaghi Municipality leads in terms of processed grapes with 4.9 thousand tons. Other municipalities: Gurjaani – 3.5 thousand tons, Kvareli – 3.4 thousand tons, Telavi – 3.2 thousand tons, Dedoplistskaro – 1.1 thousand tons, Akhmeta – 94 tons, Lagodekhi – 88 tons and Sagarejo – 55 tons.
Forty winemaking companies are taking part in the grapes processing, including six ones were hired by the government. Other winemaking companies operate in Sighnaghi, Dedoplistskaro, Gurjaani, Kvareli, Telavi and Akhmeta Municipalities.
Currently, 103 winemaking companies have been registered at the vintage coordination center. The Government is issuing subsidies to physical bodies who sell grapes to winemaking companies: 0.45 GEL for a kg of Rkatsiteli and Kakhetian Green; 0.20 GEL for a kg of Saperavi (the Kakheti Region); 2 GEL for a kg of Mujuretuli/Aleksandrouli (The Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Region).
