Prime Minister’s Counselor: Considerations as if HPPs Construction is Detrimental for Georgia are Ungrounded

Public opinion as if a construction of new hydro power plants is detrimental for Georgia is untrue, Sozar Subari, head of the regional management office of the Government’s administration and Prime Minister’s counselor noted. Our population should realize that power sector development signifies economic development and it is beneficial to everybody, Sozar Subari noted.

„Some circles assert that a construction of hydro power plats and power sector development damages the country, whilst the reality is opposite. Without power sector advancement, the country will not be developed and no field will be developed. We see that unlike previous years, electricity consumption grows in summer season too as a result of development of certain fields. Power sector also fosters revival of distinct regions.
Activity grows in the regions, where 3-4 HPPs are constructed, new job places are created there, local budgets receive additional revenues”, Subari noted.
