In June 2016 the Producer Price Index (PPI) for Industrial Products decreased 2.0 percent over May 2016 and 6.0 percent compared to June 2015. The index rose 19.9 percent over the 2010 average.
The decline of monthly PPI in June was attributable to a 2.6 percent price decrease for manufacturing. The section contributed -2.20 percentage points to the overall monthly index change. Within the section prices considerably decreased for the following subsections: manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (-4.8 percent), manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products (-1.5 percent), manufacture of chemical products (-7.5 percent) and manufacture of textiles (-25.6 percent).
In the reporting period prices for mining and quarrying increased 4.6 percent and the section contributed 0.17 percentage points to the overall index change.
The annual PPI rate was mainly affected by price changes for the following sections:
- Manufacturing: prices for the section edged down 9.0 percent with an impact of -7.58 percentage points on the overall annual PPI change. Prices decreased for manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (-18.3 percent), manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products (-6.0 percent) and manufacture of chemical products (-22.2 percent);
- Supply of electricity, gas and water: prices for the section increased 17.6 percent and contributed 2.18 percentage points to the overall PPI rate.
