According to preliminary report by Geostat, national statistics service of Georgia, by the end of the fourth quarter of 2017 number of cattle made up 900 400 ones, down 6.5% as compared to the same period of 2017. Total quantity of cows and buffaloes made up 462 800 ones, down 9.1% year on year.
Sheep and goat number rose by 3.2% year on year and totaled 966 500 ones. Pigs number rose by 20.8% to 164 500 ones, while number of chickens made up 8.046 million ones, down 2.3% year on year.
According to Geostat, in the fourth quarter of 2017 milk production made up 76.6 million liters, down 6.8% year on year. Meat production made up 19.3 thousand tons, down 6.3% year on year. In the reporting period enterprises produced 145.8 million eggs, up 6.8% year on year.
