JSC “Nenskra Hydro”, which is implementing Nenskra Hydroelectric project, has released a statement regarding the situation in the village of Chuberi in Mestia municipality.
According to our information, On July 5, in the village of Chuberi, Mestia municipality, Nenskra River, due to a natural disaster, flooded the central part of the village of Chuberi, roads and bridges were damaged.
According to media reports, the situation is related to the construction of Nenskra HPP.
”We would like to clarify that since the beginning of 2018 the Nenskra HPP preparatory works are completely stopped. These works meant only rehabilitation of existing roads and bridges. In addition, the natural disaster occurred in the direction of the river below 5 km from the construction site.
Accordingly, the situation has nothing to do with the construction of Nenskra HPP.
At this time, employees of JSC “Nenskra Hydro” have continuous communication with the local population. The company will do its best to mobilize the necessary equipment as soon as possible in order to assist the local population
JSC “Nenskra Hydro” Korea Water Resources Corporation K-Water and JSC Partnership Fund has been created in 2015 as a result of cooperation. Its purpose is to construct a high-tech hydro power plant in Mestia municipality, in the rivers Nenskra and Nakra Gorge. Nenskra Hydro Power Plant, with installed capacity of 280 MW, will be able to supply 1’200.00 GWh of electricity every year. Electricity generated will be used for the entire local market.
