Georgia’s Apple Exports Grow 40 Times

Apple production has considerably increased in 2018 as a result of growing exports, East Fruits analysts assure.

Considering the competition on the domestic market, declining prices have not increased the domestic demand. Therefore, the entrepreneurs decided to export apple to abroad, namely to the Russian market, despite Georgia was apple importer traditionally on season.

As a result, in August-October, 0.9 thousand tons of apple was exported from Georgia to Russia, while the figure made up 0.02 thousand tons in the same period of 2017. This signifies, on season Georgia’s apple exports have grown 40 times.
