Gazprom issue will not be discussed within Azerbaijan President’s visit to Georgia. Georgian Deputy Prime Minister Kakha Kaladze said in his interview with the Azerbaijani website APA.
“Georgia previously had a relationship with” Gazprom and bought gas for commercial facilities, we are buying it now and we’ll continue to buy in the future,” said Kaladze.
According to him, Georgia will be able to buy gas from Iran.
“We will wait. You are aware of our previous relations with Iran. Today the situation is completely different, and our relations with Iran are at a high level. Georgia will be able to buy gas from Iran via Azerbaijan and Armenia. We have no other way out. It is a long-term project, and we will discuss it,” Kaladze pointed out.
Recall that Kakha Kaladze twice met with Gazprom leadership in recent weeks. We are talking about the growth of gas transit to Armenia’s and Russian gas supply for commercial consumers.
The government of Georgia is also considering the purchase of gas from Iran and the Energy Minister’s visit to this country is scheduled for mid-November.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Georgia begins today.
