According to Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, as part of tea plantations rehabilitation program – Georgian Tea, a total of 39 projects were financed from 2016 up to August 31, 2018 and spaces of 907 hectares have been rehabilitated or are being rehabilitated.
In the reporting period, total investments made up 2.3 million GEL, including 1.6 million GEL state funds and 0.69 million GEL was co-funded by beneficiaries.
“1 GEL invested by the Government has earned 0.44 GEL investment. It is noteworthy that the total investments imply investment for only rehabilitation of tea plantations. It does not comprise such expenses as hedging, construction of tea-processing plant and so on. A total of 310 job places were created as part of the program. Each plantation employs about 10-40 persons on season. Averaged salaries make up 400 GEL”, the Ministry officials noted at the presentation.
