Azerbaijani gas supplies can’t solve the gas shortage problem Georgia faces today – Vice PM, Minister of Energy of Georgia Kakha Kaladze said.
This statement was made at a meeting between PM Kvirikashvili, Kakha Kaladze and SOCAR representatives.
According to Kaladze, both pipelines of SOCAR that provide Georgia with natural gas function intensively but an additional project is planned to be implemented which will allow the government to add the volume of gas to the pipelines.
“We touched on the issue of the gas storage construction that is planned to start in 2016. SOCAR is interested in participating in the project. From my point of view, the project will be important for our country,” Kaladze said.
The Head of SOCAR Georgia Mahir Mamedov does not rule out that Georgia may be provided with gas via Shahdeniz 1 pipeline.
