In 2016 the list of Georgia’s major exports markets has radically changed.
According to Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia, in January China has become Georgia’s major exports market. Namely, Georgia’s exports to China have increased 2.6 times to 14.4 million USD, while the figure previously constituted only 11.8% in total exports.
For many years Azerbaijan was the major exports market for Georgia, but now the country turned out beyond the list of ten top exports markets.
Bulgaria ranks second with 10.5 million USD, down 6.2 million USD year on year. The country ranked second in 2015.
Russia is the third with 9.77 million USD, down 2 million USD year on year. The country has advanced to the third place from the 8th position of 2015. Turkey ranks fourth with 8.9 million USD. The country has advanced from the 5th position.
Switzerland is fifth with 7.2 million USD. The country joined the list for the first time. Italy ranks sixth with 6.13 million USD.
Spain is seventh with 6 million USD. The country was not mentioned in the 2015 report, like Uzbekistan that is 8th in the list with 5.3 million USD.
Canada ranks 9th with 5.1 million USD. The country was 9th in 2015 too. Armenia is tenth with 4.88 million USD and the country has replaced China in the list. The USA, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands and Germany have left the list.
As reported, Georgia’s total exports in January marked 122 million USD. The year on year contraction marked 22%.
