Frontera will build LNG-terminal in Ukraine with the prospect of gas supplies from Georgia
American Frontera Resources Corporation will build the terminal in Ukraine for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG-terminal), Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseny Yatsenyuk says. Naftogaz of Ukraine signed a memorandum with Frontera: the American company will begin construction of LNG-terminal and starts the supply of natural gas to Ukraine through the construction of LNG-terminal”, – he said in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday summing up his visit to Washington.
Am interest expressed by Frontera Resources to the construction of LNG-terminal in Ukraine is connected with the prospect of gas supplies from Georgia, said Director of Business Development at Naftogaz Ukraine Yuri Vitrenko on their Facebook-page. According to him, Frontera Resources has also expressed interest in investing in the construction of LNG-terminal on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine. The company plans to use the terminal for the supply of gas from its fields in Georgia through projected gasification terminal on the Black Sea coast of Georgia.
Earlier it was reported that the national joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine and U.S. Frontera Resources Corporation had signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the Ukrainian-U.S. Business Forum held in Washington on July 13, the press service of the holding has reported. According to the Memo, the sides agreed to cooperate in investing in exploration and development of oil and gas fields in Ukraine and realizing a project on imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the facilities of the American company in Georgia.
The Memo takes effect from the moment of its signing and is in effect for a period of two years. As reported, in March 2012, Frontera Resources Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Service of Geology and Deposits of Ukraine. There are plans for Frontera to explore and produce fossil fuel in Ukraine.
