“The refusal of the Georgian aviation authorities to issue a Russian airline Transaero a permission to perform flights on the Moscow – Tbilisi route is a flagrant violation of the agreements reached between the two countries foreseen in the relevant protocol. They provide for the abolition of all restrictions on the number of air carriers and flights performed between Russia and Georgia. At the same time, the Georgian side has never questioned the legitimacy of these agreements, “- a statement made by the Russian airline Transaero, which the Georgian authorities refused to issue a permit for flights between Moscow and Tbilisi, states.
The air company claims that Transaero was assigned a status of a regular carrier officially appointed by Russia on the Moscow – Tbilisi route in full compliance with the applicable rules of law, approved by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s note. The airline has also received slots (time of arrival and departure) from Tbilisi airport, based on which the flight schedule was written. Considering all this, the Russian airline considers the actions of the Georgian side “a frank arbitrariness, contrary to all the rules and principles of civilized relations in civil aviation”.
Transaero airline expresses the hope that “the illegal actions of the Georgian side will receive adequate evaluation by the aviation authorities of Russia”.
