TeliaSonera, the owner of Geocell, confirms asset- sale talks with Turkcell.
However, the letter sent to CBW by the Swedish companyreads that talks are under way with other companiesand a final decision has not been made.
Last month Bloomberg reported that Turkcell intended to gain control of Fintur, which runs mobile businesses in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Georgia, “in 2016 if all the negotiations go well. The Turkish mobile operator has a 41.45 percent stake in Rotterdam-based Fintur, with TeliaSonera holding the rest.
TeliaSonera announced about its intension to reduce its presence in the Eurasian region back in September.
