Interview with Tamuna Rostiashvili, Director of the Marketing Department for Altaokay.

Why did you decide to enter this field, and what kind of opportunities does this profession give you?

I graduated from Tbilisi State University’s Department of Economics and Business, in the sphere of Business Administration. I chose finance as a narrow specialty, but marketing modules were always among my extra subjects, as they always interested me. When I started my professional career, marketing was the field in which I started to gain experience.

I have been working in marketing for eight years already.

The marketing field is active, interesting and diverse, and constantly offers new challenges. While working in this field, one should be determined, sociable and motivated to implement any project, daily tasks or challenges.

Why marketing? Because it is related to innovation. This century is a period of change that we must constantly adapt to. Marketing promotes innovation; It helps us think beyond borders and create new approaches to various issues and problems. This is what makes a difference in the world of business, the ability to adapt and implement innovation. That’s why the marketing profession will bring many positive aspects to your life.

What is it necessary for holding successful communication with the public?

It is important to hold precise communication, provide information accurately, and determine which way we are delivering this information.

As a marketer, I always try to take into account the interests and wishes of customers.

What three tips would you offer someone just starting out in PR?

First of all you must be social, you must have a combination of personal and professional qualities that will enable you to work effectively with your team, pursue your goals, be brave and creative. You should be able to act according to plan and respond appropriately to various processes.

A successful marketing specialist should be flexible, open, a good listener, creative and customer oriented.

Describe a typical work week.

The field in which I work today is very active. Each working week is diverse, involving the planning and implementation of various marketing steps, communication with partners, the community and staff.

How would you prioritize and start your work day?

My work day starts with checking emails and reviewing the previous day’s results.

What trait do you value the most in your co-workers?

A high sense of responsibility, diligence and determination: these are the qualities I value in people.
