The Georgian company Geotransgaz importing Russian gas says that the hype surrounding the negotiations of the Ministry of Energy with the leadership of Gazprom may harm the interests of the companies that import Russian gas for purely commercial purposes.
Geotransgaz imports the Russian natural gas on the basis of a contract signed in 2015 which represents a document signed by only two commercial entities.
The company signed a contract with Gazprom export for deliveries of gas from Russia.
“These days the media reported about the negotiations between the Georgian Ministry of Energy and Gazprom. To prevent all sorts of interpretations, we declare that our company, as a private entity free from any political influence, is ready to increase imports of Russian gas for its facilities and other commercial users in order to compensate the shortage of gas in the Georgian market if required,” say in the company.
