Ronny Solberg: Georgia Has the Strong Potential to Become a Self-sufficient Net Exporter by Means of Deregulating the Power Market

Today, AGL’s CEO Ronny Solberg attended the “Georgia Cross-Border Electricity Trading” summit. As the representative of Georgia’s largest energy sector investor, he addressed summit participants and discussed the Shuakhevi HPP’s relationship with the government as well as the project’s challenges and achievements.

“From the point of view of an investor who has been doing business in Georgia for several years, Georgia has the strong potential to become a self-sufficient net exporter by means of deregulating the power market and amending existing regulations. This will lead to even more foreign direct investment and enlarging the scale of the country’s economy,” noted Mr. Solberg.

The summit was held in Tech Park and opened by Vice Prime Minister,Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze. Representatives from international financial institutions, private sector companies, and numerous industry experts also attended the event.
