The amount of international travelers in Georgia increased by 12.9% in 6 months period, – the head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) Giorgi Chogovadze said.
According to him, the number of tourist visits exceeds last year’s data by 18.1%.
The most of the visits were carried out from Azerbaijan (+ 18.1%), Turkey (+ 4%), Armenia (+14%), Russia ( + 15.6%) and Ukraine ( + 26.3%) during January – June 2016 period.
The number of visitors from the following countries grew meaningfully, and scored 29% from Latvia, Italy 20% and France 12%.
In addition, significant growth recorded from the following countries Iran ( 400%), India ( 340%), the Philippines (‘+ 208%), Israel (95% ), China (57%), Uzbekistan (31%).
As Chogovadze noted, the rate of foreign travelers or tourists, who spent more than 24 hours in Georgia amounted to 228.866. Thus the growth makes up 15.8%.
According to the data of June 2016, 517.038 international tourists visited Georgia, the growth made up + 4.1% compared with last year’s corresponding month.
As Chogovadze stated, in the month of June 2016, the most of the visitors came from Azerbaijan (+ 1.9%), Armenia (-3.9%), Turkey (-7.2%), Russia (4.4%) and Ukraine (35.3%).
The positive trend is maintained from EU countries as well, as a result, in June the visitors arrived from Czech Republic + 66%, Lithuania +33%, Bulgaria +25%, Germany +20%, France +19%, and + 18% from Latvia.
