Georgia to Develop E-Commerce Strategy

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia has started to work on developing e-commerce strategy with the support of the EU and German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) “Small and Medium Business Development and DCFTA in Georgia”.

The strategy aims to identify products with high potential in this direction and facilitate their sales through electronic platforms. German company Conoscope and their local experts are involved in the implementation of the project.

E-commerce is an industry type where products and services are sold through electronic ways, such as  Internet. E-Commerce includes data exchange that facilitates monetary transactions. This is an efficient and convenient way to communicate between business organizations.

The goal of the “Enterprise Georgia – Export” is to popularize Georgia’s export potential, increase the competitiveness and volume of Georgian products on international markets, as well as diversify Georgian export markets.

The project “Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development and DCFTA Georgia” is implemented within the framework of the European Union Business Program. The aim of the program is to assist small and medium entrepreneurs in agreement with free trade space between Georgia and the EU. In particular, the project promotes the improvement of the business environment, increasing the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurs and availability of finances.
