The second quarter of 2018 registered 25.2 thousand new job places in business sector as a result of efficient measures carried out by the Government and positive expectation of employers, Ekaterine Mikabadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, noted.
“Employment statistics is one of the key indicators for state economy appraisal. It is also important that employers have increased wages, along with creating new job placed. As to sectors, the greatest number of new job places were created in trading, hotel and restaurants sectors, health and transportation and warehouse business sectors. We have good indicators, but our key objective is to more diversify sectors, which will make their contribution to maintaining the positive trend of employment statistics”, Ekaterine MIkabadze noted.
According to Geostat, national statistics service of Georgia, in the second quarter of 2018 the number of job places rose by 4%, including the number of hired employees rose by 3.9% and constituted 656.5 and 621.4 thousand ones.
The averaged monthly salary also maintains growing tendency. The indicator has grown by 3.9% compared to 2017 and amounted to 1150.4 GEL.
In the reporting period, the trading sector has made major contribution to creating new job places (up 5.2%), hotels and restaurants (up 8.8%), health sector (4.7%) and transport and warehouse (up 5.0%).
